On the afternoon of November 1st, Fluid Mechanical Engineering Academic Salon Lecture 13 was held online in the fluid center. Prof. Wang Xikun, director of Marine Engineering Hydrodynamic Research Institute, invited Prof. Zhou Tongming from University of Western Australia as guest speaker. The report was presided over by Prof. Wang Xikun with more than 120 participants.
At the beginning, Prof. Zhou Tongming introduced the history and current situation of the University of Western Australia, focusing on the current scientific research status and curriculum design in the field of mining engineering and marine engineering (currently ranked among the top five in the world). The report was given and extended from the problems in the classical cylindrical hydrodynamics, discussing in detail the variation law of the flow around six series cylinders with the change of Reynolds number and column spacing under the condition of laminar flow. The report, that demonstrated his solid theoretical foundation and strong analytical ability, was progressive and logical, leaving a deep impression on the teachers and students.
After the report, Prof. Zhou Tongming had an online interaction with teachers and students. He ended up with saying ‘I wished that the two sides would further strengthen cooperation and exchanges, we welcome graduate students to the University of Western Australia for joint education.’
