On November 6, 2021, the kick-off meeting of the major technical breakthrough project "Research on Large Eco-friendly Tubular Pump Unit of the East Line of South-to-North Water Transfer Project" was successfully held by means of combination of offline and online in China’s National Research Center of Pumps (NRCP). The meeting was hosted by Jiangsu University, participated by Jiangsu Surveying and Design Institute of Water Resources and Jiangsu Aerospace Hydraulic Equipment Co., Ltd. and presided over by researcher Zhang Desheng.

At the kick-off meeting, Secretary of the Party Committee, Yuan Shouqi, delivered a welcome speech, warmly congratulated on the convoke of the meeting and sincerely thanked the relevant companies for their strong support. Yuan Shouqi pointed out that the project team has accumulated a good research foundation in the construction of the East Line of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project(phase 1), conducting sufficient research and hydraulic model prediction in the early stage. The team quickly carried out experimental research and selected high-performance hydraulic model.He stressed that the project team should adhere to the high standard requirements, accelerate the research progress, and regularly carry out summary reports. It is also important to ensure the localization application through multi-party collaborative R & D. Pei Ji and Zhou Guangxin reported on the project work respectively, and the participating experts discussed the specific implementation scheme of the project. Zhang Desheng decomposed the tasks of the project and set up a research team to ensure a reasonable division of labor and complete the project research tasks on time. In the end, Zhu Zhenrong, director of the Science and Technology Department of Provincial Water Resources Department, affirmed the research significance and research scheme of the project, which met the construction needs of the follow-up project of the South-to-North Water Transfer, and put forward guiding suggestions for project management.

In recent years, the scientific research team of the fluid center has taken the initiative to meet the major national strategic needs, effectively enhance the sense of mission, responsibility and urgency, and will continue to contribute wisdom to the construction of the second phase of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project.
