Recently, the fluid center was entrusted by Kunming Electric Machinery Factory Co., Ltd. to preside over a major technology development project called “Research and Development on Key Technologies of Intelligent and High-efficiency Pumps and Motors with Large and Medium Size”. The fund for this project is 12.2 million Yuan. The project is led by Jiangsu University and jointly undertaken by Kunming University of Science and Technology and Kunming Engineering Co., Ltd. of China Power Construction Corporation. Relying on China’s National Research Center of Pumps (NRCP), the research team carried out research and development on hydraulic model and intelligent operation system of pumps for national major hydraulic projects in Yunnan Province. The goal of localization and industrialization of mechanical and electrical equipment for pumping stations in Yunnan Province and surrounding areas has been achieved.

In recent years, focusing on the national strategic requirements, the fluid center, in conjunction with leading scientific research institutes and leading enterprises in the industry, carried out basic theoretical research and product development of fluid engineering equipment for national major projects such as nuclear power equipment, south-to-north water diversion, water diversion in central Yunnan and deep-sea resource exploitation, etc.

Associate researcher Zhang Fan, the project leader, is the first double doctorate winner jointly trained with Technische Universität Kaiserslautern in Germany. He is selected into the young scientific and technological talents promotion project of Jiangsu Association for Science and Technology. He has been engaged in fluid machinery and Engineering Research for more than 10 years, and has successively presided over more than 10 projects including National Natural Science Foundation of China, sub-subjects of National Key R&D Program of China, special support from China Post-doctoral Science Fund, and projects from the Global Headquarters Foundation of KSB Pump Valve Co., Ltd. Director Zhang Fan never forgets the original mission of serving the work of the school and the fluid center. Not only the scientific research achievements are very prominent among his peers, but also he is conscientious in the post of office director to serve teachers and students.

It is reported that Kunming Electric Machinery Factory Co., Ltd. is the largest manufacturer and the backbone enterprise of electric machinery and hydropower equipment in Yunnan Province.
