On the afternoon of October 22, on the occasion of 20th anniversary of its founding and 119th anniversary of its running of Jiangsu University, our fluid center held lecture 8-12 of Jinshan Fluid Mechanical Engineering Academic Salon (alumni special session). Prof. Chou Baoyun from Yangzhou University, senior engineer Xie Xiaoqing from Shanghai KSB Co., Ltd, researcher Sun Weiping from 704 Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, researcher Yang Zhijun from Emergency Management Department of Shanghai Fire Research Institute and Prof. Zhang Bing from Changzhou Institute of Technology were invited as guest speakers to give lectures on academic research, engineering application and personal development from the angle of a student. Secretary of the Party Committee researcher Yuan Shouqi, director of the fluid center researcher Yuan Jianping and nearly 100 alumni and representatives of teachers and students attended this event. The seminar was presided over by researcher Pei Ji, who is the deputy director of the fluid center.

At the beginning, Yuan Shouqi delivered a welcome speech to all the alumni and expressed his gratitude to them for their consistent concern and support for the alma mater and fluid center. He wished that by taking this brand activity as an opportunity, postgraduates of our center would broaden their horizons, understand the struggle process of outstanding alumni, practice the spirit of "virtue, hard work, innovation and dedication", and make greater contributions to the country and the fluid machinery industry.

Prof. Qiu Baoyun, systematically expounded the research results on the optimal operation of large-scale low-head pump stations combined with his own research direction. Xie Xiaoqing shared his unique front-line work experience combined with his long-term experience in centrifugal pump technology in well-known pump enterprises at home and abroad and his understanding of petrochemical pump, nuclear power pump technology and standards. Starting from the characteristics and technical development trend of marine pumps, researcher Sun Weiping introduced the development characteristics and trend of marine pumps in detail. Researcher Yang Zhijun systematically summarized the development trend and related key technologies of fire equipment from the perspective of fire safety. Based on his own learning experience in fluid center and his work experience after graduation, Prof. Zhang Bing exchanged fluid practitioners feelings of family and country with teachers and students in simple terms.

The salon has achieved complete success, broadened the vision of teachers and students, and outstanding alumni have promoted the exchanges between teachers and students in the same industry by means of words and deeds.
