Fluid Center and Zhenjiang Agricultural Science Institute Jointly Hold Party Day Activities

On April 1, the student and faculty of the water-saving irrigation research team of the Fluid Center visited the Zhenjiang Agricultural Science Institute. Together with the Ecological Agriculture Party Branch of the Zhenjiang Agricultural Science Institute, they jointly held a Themed Party Day event. Researcher Yuan Shouqi, the director of the National Research Center of Pumps, Party Secretary Liu Guoming of the Zhenjiang Agricultural Science Institute, Deputy Secretary Wang Guiyuan, and other comrades participated in the event.

Liu Guoming extended a sincere welcome to the delegation from the Fluid Center. He pointed out that the exchange of scientific and technological assistance has further expanded the cooperation channels between the two institutions, and is a vivid practice of Party-building leading the joint promotion of rural revitalization and high-quality agricultural development.

Yuan Shouqi introduced the advantages of the water-saving irrigation technical team of the Fluid Center in equipment theory, technical research, and talent training. He stated that the team focuses on the creation of first-class disciplines with the characteristics of agricultural machinery in the school, inspiring teachers and students to aim at the national major strategy of rural revitalization to carry out scientific and technological research, thereby effectively improving the level and ability to serve the national major strategy. The team has a good foundation for cooperation with the Zhenjiang Agricultural Science Institute. Both sides should further strengthen cooperation, jointly apply for various provincial and ministerial level projects, use projects as the lead to transfer scientific and technological achievements to the fields, accelerate the transformation and application of agricultural scientific and technological achievements, promote the rooting of new equipment and new technologies, empower agricultural production with modern machinery, and help farmers increase production and income.

After the above exchange, the teachers and students went to Daizhuang and Maoshan and other agricultural production frontlines to provide scientific and technological assistance, and provided on-site solutions to problems encountered in the application of water-saving irrigation equipment and technology in actual production.

Zhang Kuifeng, the chief of Jurong's Wealthy Fruit Industry Cooperative, said that the integrated micro-sprinkler irrigation equipment system for water, fertilizer, and pesticide provided by the water-saving irrigation technical team of the Fluid Center saves more than 20% of water, more than 10% of fertilizer, and more than 10% of pesticide compared with traditional models and manual fertilization and pesticide application methods. This has formed a demonstration base for the organic integration of production, learning, and research in water-saving irrigation equipment and systems.

Professor Liu Junping from the Fluid Center of Jiangsu University detailed to the students how the developed irrigation equipment and control systems work, how to switch between different working modes such as watering, fertilizing, and spraying, and how to remotely control and other technical conditions.

Dai Junjian, the secretary of Maoshan Tea Plantation, introduced that Jiangsu University has implemented precise and effective solutions to the uneven sprinkling problem faced by Maoshan Tea Plantation in hilly areas, optimized the layout of the original sprinkling system of the tea plantation, ensured that irrigation water can evenly cover each tea garden, and made the uniformity of hilly sprinkling reach more than 80%. At the same time, the team developed an integrated smart irrigation pump station to ensure the stability of sprinkling pressure at different heights in the hills, thereby avoiding the problems of insufficient water pressure on high ground and excessive water pressure on low ground, and improving the pump station efficiency by 5%. These targeted measures not only effectively solved the uneven sprinkling problem of Maoshan Tea Plantation, but also improved irrigation efficiency, reduced operating costs, and injected new impetus into the sustainable development of the tea plantation.
