In order to provide more help for undergraduates who have study difficulties, and help them improve the academic performance, OEC is currently seeking to recruit excellent overseas postgraduates with good performance in their field of study as the ASSISTANT ACADEMIC TUTORS for twining and help. Detailed information is as follows:

1. Students who needs twining and help:

a) Undergraduates who have received academic warning, notice of lowering grade, and notice of dropping-out and probation

b) Undergraduates who are willing to get guidance and help from assistant academic tutors though didn’t receive academic warning

2. Requirements for Assistant Academic Tutors:

a) The applicant must be overseas graduate student studying in Jiangsu University. Masters applicants must be in the second year of their study. Ph.D. applicants are also eligible to apply (whether freshman or continuing student).

b) The applicant must be someone who holds friendly feeling of China, abide by the rules and regulations of the Chinese government and the school. Postgraduates who have ever received warnings or violates any school regulations, fail exams or exceed their length of studies are not eligible to apply.

c) The applicant must be honest and have good morality, be willing to help others, and have a high sense of responsibility.

d) The applicant should have good academic background and good research ability. And he/ she should also get the permission from the supervisor.

e) The applicant must exhibit some level of Chinese language proficiency.

f) Students who are in financial difficulties will be given priority when the applicants are in the equal conditions.

3. Duties and Responsibilities of Assistant Academic Tutors：

a) Help students understand the training specifications and requirements of relevant majors and cultivate students’interest in studies.

b) Guide students to develop good learning habits, best learning attitude and scientific learning methods.

c) Guide and urge students or supervise students to implement their academic plan or learning plan to the latter.

d) Help students with learning difficulties to be able to analyze existing problems and guide them to improve on their studies.

e) Actively communicate with the student’s counsellors or class teachers on the student’s learning status and ideological trends.

f) Give the instructions to the student no less than twice a week, and check his attendance no less than once a time.

4. Ways of Twining:

a) Undergraduates who need twining and help can recommend and choose by themselves according to the requirements of the assistant academic tutors.

b) OEC will make arrangements according the nationality and majors.

5. Assessment of Assistant Academic Tutors:

The assessment of assistant academic tutors for foreign undergraduates shall be carried out by the OEC according to their work effects and students’evaluation.

The salary is 160 yuan per student per month.

6. Application Procedures:

a) The applicant fills in the Application Form for Assistant Academic Tutor (Annex 1).

b) All application forms should be submitted to Student Affairs Office, OEC, before November 25.
