On October 22, 2016, the 2nd International Conference on Cavitation and Multiphase Flow (2016ISCM) was held in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province, China. The symposium is organized by Jiangsu University and Tsinghua University, sponsored by Xi’an University of Technology and Lanzhou University of Technology. The 2016ISCM conference aimed to discuss and exchange new discoveries, new methods, new ideas and new research achievements in the field of cavitation and multiphase flow at home and abroad, to promote international cooperation and exchange, to explore academic problems, to ignite scientific research thinking, and promote the development of disciplinary research results. The meeting attracted more than 200 industry experts and young scholars from home and abroad. In addition, more than 150 teachers and students from Jiangsu University attended the symposium. The opening ceremony of the conference was chaired by Professor Wang Zhengwei. Prof. Yuan Shouqi, who is the secretary of the Party Committee, President of Jiangsu University, gave a welcome speech. Prof. Yuan said that the visit of outstanding experts and scholars in the industry will further promote the cooperation between China, universities and research institutions around the world, and also welcome more excellent international students to study and exchange ideas with Jiangsu University. In his remarks, he said that “Jiangsu University is relentless in pursuit of becoming a world-class research university. After more than ten years of rapid development, the teaching level and research level of Jiangsu University has made great progress, and has achieved fruitful results. Fluid mechanics and engineering is a national key discipline. Fluid machinery has always been at the leading level in the research centre of fluid machinery, especially in the cavitation of fluid machinery and its induced vibration, noise and multiphase flow. The success of this conference will surely promote cooperation and exchange in the fields of cavitation and multiphase flow at home and abroad”.
