From November 4th to 8th, the 37th Plenary Meeting on ISO/TC23/SC18 Irrigation and Drainage Equipment and Systems was successfully held in Hangzhou, China, which was held in China for the first time. It was jointly organized by China Academy of Agricultural Mechanization Sciences, Jiangsu University and Hangzhou Standardization International Exchange Center. A total of 39 representatives and experts from seven countries attended the meeting, including China, Israel, United States, Canada, Spain, India and Brazil. Yuan Shouqi, Party Secretary of Jiangsu University, Li Hong, Director of Science and Technology Department, the leaders and related personnel of Research Center of Fluid Machinery Engineering and Technology attended the meeting.

The meeting was chaired by Chairman Merio Shoval and Secretary General Ela Atarto. On November 4th, the meeting organized a visit to Shanghai Huawei Water-saving Irrigation Co., Ltd. and Southern Pump Co., Ltd. From November 5th to 7th, several working group meetings of ISO/TC23/SC18 were held. The conveners of eight standard working groups separately reported the work of each working group, and collected opinions from representatives and experts. There was a heated discussion on technical terms, irrigation nozzles, test equipment, valves, filters, sprayers, remote monitoring and control technology. During the resolution stage, all representatives voted on the existing standards of ISO/TC23/SC18, and finally decided that four standards of them need to be revised. And the representatives were solicited as technical experts to participate in the revision and drafting of standards.

During the meeting, the representatives of Jiangsu University actively participated in the discussion. They had full communication on the nozzle test method, micro-irrigation anti-blocking technology, sprinkler irrigation remote monitoring and movable sprinkler irrigation equipment. And they introduced China’s relevant standard level, design theory and test methods of sprinkler irrigation equipment, etc. The representatives actively applied as technical experts to participate in the drafting work of some working groups, and provided basic data from China for the drafting and revision of international standards.
