From August 25th to 26th in 2018, the 29th National Conference on Hydrodynamics was successfully held in Jiangsu University. The conference consisted of five sub-meeting venues, including seven conference reports and 130 conference venue reports. There were more than 200 people from 45 units attending the conference and exchanging more than 130 papers.

Yan Kai, Deputy Director and Chief Engineer of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, presided over the opening ceremony of the conference. Dr. Wu Yousheng, an expert in hydroelastic mechanics and ship mechanics, delivered the opening speech. In his speech, Academician Wu encouraged the experts in the field of hydrodynamics to strengthen academic exchanges and jointly promote academic and applied research in Chinese hydrodynamics. Prof. Yuan Shouqi, Secretary of Party Committee of Jiangsu University, gave a welcome speech on behalf of the organizer, and introduced the history and development of Jiangsu University. In addition, he also introduced the development ofResearch Center of Fluid Machinery Engineering and Technology. And he warmly invited the delegates to visit beautiful mountains and rivers of the charming Zhenjiang during their leisure time.

The successful convening of this conference promots the academic exchange and prosperity in the field of hydrodynamics, enhances the feelings among peers in this field, and will definitely play a positive role in promoting the research of hydrodynamics in China.
