From June 2 to 5, the 12th Cavitation Symposium 2024 was held in Chania, Crete, Greece. Invited participants included Professor Yuan Shouqi, Director of the National Research Center of Pumps; Professor Yuan Jianping, Director of the Fluid Center; and representatives of faculty and students from the Fluid Center and the School of Energy and Power Engineering.

During the session presentations, Professor Yuan Shouqi chaired the "Impellers and Pumps" session. Professor Yuan Jianping, Associate Professor Zhang Fan, Ph.D. student Zhu Han from the Fluid Center, Wang Chuqiao from the School of Energy and Power Engineering, postdoctoral fellow Guan Wei (currently at the University of Magdeburg, Germany), and master's student Huang Wei presented academic reports respectively. They detailed the latest research achievements of Jiangsu University in cavitation of fluid machinery, hydrofoil cavitation, and nozzle cavitation. Their presentations attracted significant attention and sparked heated discussions among attendees, including Professor Katz from Johns Hopkins University.

During the symposium, Professor Yuan Shouqi also discussed with the conference chairman, Professor Manolis Gavaises from City, University of London, about hosting an international cavitation academic symposium at Jiangsu University and establishing comprehensive cooperation with related experts. This symposium fully showcased the research achievements of Jiangsu University in the field of cavitation in fluid and power machinery, further enhancing the university's reputation in international fluid and power machinery research. This academic exchange significantly promoted the depth and breadth of cooperation between our university and international experts in fluid and power machinery, laying a solid foundation for the substantive construction of the National Center for International Research on Energy Saving Technology of Fluid Engineering Equipment and the Advanced Technology for High-end Fluid Machinery Overseas Expertise Introduction Center for Discipline Innovation.

The symposium, jointly organized by City, University of London, Technical University of Darmstadt, and École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, is reported to have attracted 223 experts and scholars from 25 countries across Europe, America, and Asia. Focusing on the latest research progress in theoretical calculations, numerical simulations, and experimental testing of cavitation phenomena, it is currently the most influential academic symposium in the field of cavitation worldwide.
